GK Expo 2007
Gawad Kalinga or GK, the Couples for Christ’s work for the poor has just gone through its greatest tribulation in the early months of 2007. Expectedly, certain drawbacks occurred but none so great to cripple the program to a halt. As one may say, you can’t put a good ministry down.
And a very good ministry it was and still is. GK 2007 was a show of force because it demonstrated the outpouring of continued support from within the community as well as from its government sector, corporate and individual partners in nation building.
While far from perfection, Gawad Kalinga continues to be the country’s best practice in poverty alleviation with even the United Nations getting interested how it so effectively works in many places here and abroad.
More importantly, I think, is how GK provides real hope and self-dignity back to its down trodden beneficiaries.
I am particularly happy that my wife and two other kids were able to join me and Joshua this time around. Like last year though, Baby Faith had to stay home.
(and if he wasn’t.... then he should have been! :] )

I take pride to be in the presence of so many modern time heroes in Gawad Kalinga. At the same time I am humbled in their selfless efforts and how much I have yet to contribute to the realization of what I believe is part of God’s plan here on earth.
Move on GK! Move on...
…and the poor shall inherit the earth!
